Dr. Lamarque’s interest in medicine began when he was very young. He has always had an affinity for both math and science, which is what initially fostered his interest in medicine. He later found that he enjoyed teaching. To be more specific, he found that he was particularly good at taking a complex thought that is expressed in large scientific terms and restating it in plain English. He uses this ability to make sure that his patients are not only treated for their specific issue but also that they have a clear understanding of the process that caused their issue and the options for treating that issue.
He has a special clinical interest in minimally invasive surgery, particularly laparoscopy and laparoscopic hysterectomy. He uses these skills with Marlow Heights where he currently practices, and he is affiliated with Holy Cross Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
In regards to his education, Dr. Lamarque graduated with his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1997. He then completed his residency with the George Washington University Hospital. Additionally, he is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) is a non-profit organization that board certifies obstetricians and gynecologists (OB GYNs) and offers continuing certification to OB GYNs in the United States and Canada. Board certification is a voluntary process for those physicians who choose to pursue certification.
He is currently licensed to practice in the states of Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. In 2013 he was awarded Compassionate Doctor Recognition and in 2014 he received the Compassionate Doctor Recognition, On-Time Doctor Award, and Patients’ Choice Award.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is a broad and diverse branch of medicine that emcompasses two subspecialities: obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system). Obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYN) are physicians who possess special knowledge, skills and professional capability in the medical and surgical care of the female reproductive system and associated disorders. This enables them to serve as consultants to other physicians and as primary physicians for women.
